SPW Purpose and Structure.

The slag processing workshop processes slag generated at the blast-furnace and steelmaking process stages.

1. The slag processing workshop includes two sections:

  • slag processing section (SPS);
  • mobile crushing-and-screening plant (MCSP-200) section.

1. Slag Processing Section ( SPS)

1.1.The slag processing section (SPS) was commissioned in October 1999.

1.2. The primary purpose of SPS is to:

  • process the slag generated by the blast-furnace production operation;
  • produce crushed stone and sand from the blast-furnace slag according to GOST 3344-83 standard “Slag Crushed Stone and Sand for Road Construction” and GOST 5578-94 “Crushed Stone and Sand from Ferrous and Nonferrous Slag for Concretes";
  • prepare places (areas) for discharge of flaming flowing blast-furnace slag, treat ladles, and provide the blast-furnace workshop with unladen slag cars;
  • produce metal concentrate with an iron content according to TU 0798-006-00186341-2002 specification “Metal Concentrate (Blast Furnace Metal Waste)”;
  • make sure that contractual obligations for the supply of crushed rock to the consumers according to GOST are performed.

The designed scheduled performance of the SPS plant is 300 kt/a of slag.

2.MCSP Section

The MCSP section includes the MCSP-200 plant commissioned in 1986.

 2.1.Primary Purpose of MCSP:

  • process the slag generated by the factory’s blast-furnace and steelmaking operations;
  • produce crushed stone and crushed stone mix according to TU 5718-010-00186341-2002 Specification, “Crushed Stone and Crushed Stone/Sand Mix for Road Construction from Open-Hearth and Blast-Furnace Slag”;
  • produce burden additive according to STP 115-17-2002 Enterprise Standard, “Burden Additive”.

2.2.MCSP’s scheduled performance is 40 kt/a of slag.
